Japan England Insurance Brokers Limited (JEIB) was the first Japanese insurance broking company to be established in the London insurance market.

We started business in 1986 as a joint venture of Japanese and British private and corporate investors. Since then, we have developed strong relationships with major Japanese and international insurers and have supported the insurance and risk management needs of Japanese companies operating in the UK and Europe.

Our expertise and reputation, particularly within the Japanese business community, are well established. Our Group Chairman, Keisaku Sano was invited to the King’s Charles reception at Buckingham Palace

King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace on 1st February 2023 to celebrate the contribution that Asian community makes to Great Britain.

Our Group Chairman, Keisaku Sano was invited to the reception among 350 people from across various sectors for his contribution to the friendship and business development between Japan and Great Britain.

Other members of the royal family that joined the celebratory event were, the Earl of Wessex, the Princess Royal, the Duke of Kent, the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra.

We regard the privacy of you as very important.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, use, share, retain and safeguard your personal data and which rights you have in this respect. “Personal information” is information that can identify you as an individual.
Whilst it does not include information about companies, it does include information we collect about company directors, officers, employees, sole traders and members of partnerships. If you provide other people’s details to us, you must have obtained their consent to our using their data and provide this notice to them.

We are the data controller under the United Kingdom’s Data Protection Act 1998 in respect of the personal information to which this Privacy Notice applies. Japan England Insurance Brokers Limited has notified the Office of the Information Commissioner of our data processing activities: our registration number is Z5186996.

What information do we collect from you and why?

We collect and use relevant information about you to provide you with your insurance cover and administrate your insurance cover and to meet our legal obligations.
This information includes details such as your name, address, contact details, and any other information that we collect about you in connection with the insurance cover from which you benefit. This information may include more sensitive details such as information about your health and any criminal convictions you may have.
In certain circumstances, we may need your consent to process certain categories of information about you (including sensitive details such as information about your health and any criminal convictions you may have). Where we need your consent, we will ask you for it separately. You do not have to give your consent and you may withdraw your consent at any time. However, if you do not give your consent, or you withdraw your consent, this may affect our ability to provide the insurance cover from which you benefit and may prevent us from providing cover for you or handling your claims.
You should be aware that the insurance market participants might use automated decision-making to check for customer suitability to insurance products, e.g. credit search to check an individual’s solvency and credit rating.

The types of personal data that are processed may include:

RISK DETAILS	Information about you to assess the risk to be insured and provide a quote. This may include your health, criminal convictions data.
POLICY INFORMATION	Your insurance quote and policies
CREDIT & ANTI-FRAUD	Credit history, Sanctions and Criminal Offence and Anti-Fraud data etc.
CLAIM HISTORY	Information about previous and current claims
SPECIAL CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL DATA	Health information, Criminal Convictions, Racial/Ethnic origin, Political opinions, Religious beliefs, Genetic data, Sexual orientation etc.

With whom will we share your Personal Data and why?

The way insurance works means that your information may be shared with, and used by, a number of third parties in the insurance sector, for example, insurers, agents or brokers, reinsurers, loss adjusters, sub-contractors, regulators, law enforcement agencies, fraud and crime prevention and detection agencies and compulsory insurance databases. We will only disclose your personal information in connection with the insurance cover that we provide and to the extent required or permitted by law.

Updating your Personal Data

Any information you supply to us must be accurate and up to date and you should inform us if any such information requires updating. We will not be responsible for any losses arising from any inaccurate and incomplete Personal Data that you provide to us.

How long we retain your data?

We will keep your personal data only for so long as necessary and for the purpose for which it was originally collected or you withdraw your consent where applicable and we are not legally required or otherwise permitted to continue storing the data.

International transfer and security of your data

Our ‘Site’ is hosted on web servers in the UK and/or within the EEA and the third party data processor cloud platform, in the UK and/or outside of the jurisdiction of the EEA. We may need to transfer your data to insurance market participants or their affiliates or sub-contractors, which are located outside of the EEA; this may include countries, which do not provide the same level of protection as the laws of the UK and/EEA. This is necessary for the purposes of administering our business and underwriting and claims processing purposes. Such parties are not permitted to use your personal data for any other purpose than for what has been agreed with us. We will ensure that those transfers are made subject to appropriate or suitable safeguards as required by the UK GDPR or other laws.
We will take all appropriate technical and organisational steps to protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability and authenticity of your data, including when sharing your data and authorised third parties. Please be aware that the Internet is global and no data transmitted via the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure during transmission.

What are your rights in relation to the information we hold about you?

You have rights in relation to the information we hold about you, including the right to access your information, to obtain further details on how we use and process your Personal Data, to delete Personal Data that we no longer have legal grounds to process and under certain conditions, where processing is based on consent, withdraw the consent. If you wish to exercise your rights or you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the way which we process your personal data, please contact our Data Privacy representative at:

As mandated by law we will not charge a fee to process these requests, however if your request is considered to be repetitive, wholly unfounded and/or excessive, we are entitled to charge a reasonable administration fee.

How will you know if we make any changes to this Privacy Policy?

This Privacy Policy was last updated in October 2021 and we may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by posting a notice on the Site’s homepage: you can view the current version of our Privacy Policy at any time by clicking on the Privacy Policy link on the homepage.

Complaints Procedure / How we handle complaints

We aim to treat our customers fairly at all times, especially when they feel they have cause for complaint. We take any complaint very seriously.

Any complaint, whether made in writing or verbally, is immediately referred to our Complaints Officer. We also record any complaint we receive. Our Complaints Officer is responsible for ensuring that we thoroughly investigate any complaints.

As soon as a complaint is received:

All written complaints will be acknowledged by our Complaints Officer in writing within five business days of receipt.

All verbal complaints will also be acknowledged by our Complaints Officer in writing within five business days of receipt. This acknowledgement letter will also contain our understanding of the complaint and will ask the complainant to confirm in writing that he/she agrees with our understanding of the matter.

If the complaint can be resolved within three business days we will send a Summary of the Resolution.

If the complaint can be resolved within five business days our acknowledgement letter will also outline the result of our investigation.

If our investigation is not resolved within five business days, our acknowledgement letter will confirm that we will:

a) Investigate the complaint and aim to respond within four weeks of receiving the complaint
b) Explain that, if we cannot complete the investigation within four weeks of receiving the complaint, we will write again giving the reason for the delay
c) Explain that on completion of our investigation we will inform the complainant of the outcome and the options available to him/her.

If the complaint is about another party, such as an insurer with whom we have placed business, we will refer details of the complaint to the third party and confirm this course of action to the complainant in writing.

After we have investigated the complaint:

Immediately on completion of our investigation our Complaints Officer will write to the complainant notifying him/her of the outcome of our investigation.

We will set out the nature and terms of any settlement (if applicable). Any compensation we offer will be fair and the basis of the calculation will be explained.

Our letter will also advise that if the complainant is not satisfied with the outcome he/she may refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service and will point out that such a referral should be made within the next six months or he/she may lose that right.

Our letter will include the name, address, website address and telephone number of the Ombudsman and a leaflet which explains the Ombudsman arrangements.

If we cannot resolve the complaint within four weeks:

If, for any reason, our investigation is not concluded within four weeks, our Complaints Officer will write to the complainant again informing him/her that our investigation is continuing, giving the reasons for the delay and a date by which our Complaints Officer expects to be able to contact the complainant again.

If we cannot resolve the complaint within eight weeks:

While we would always aim to complete an investigation within eight weeks, if, for any reason, our investigation is not concluded within this period, our Complaints Officer will write to the complainant again. We will inform him/her of the reasons for the further delay and advise that if he/she is not satisfied with our progress he/she may refer the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
